Meet Brownie.

William “Brownie” Porterfield sees all things through to the end. That is why in 2019, he founded his own home building company, Porterfield Builders, adding to the process of construction, as well as remodeling, a fresh perspective, and youthful vigor. His early success is evident in the quality of home projects already completed by his company in the Tanglewood, West University, Briargrove, and Memorial areas of Houston, Texas.

Serving an apprenticeship at a large-scale building company, Brownie specialized in construction scheduling: A fine art involving the coordination of many moving parts. Afterward, he joined a high-end custom home builder, broadening the scope of his work to include collaboration with clients, traders and vendors, interior designers, realtors, architects, and engineers. Brownie owes his construction savvy to the wealth of experience drawn, as well as personal relationships forged, during those formative years.

Brownie is a Houston native and graduate of Lamar High School. At Texas Christian University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in General Business, which prepared him for his future pursuits. Along with his formal education, his parents’ professional roles have inspired and shaped his professional endeavors. With a mother who is a successful real estate agent and a father who is an award-winning residential architect, Brownie has a unique perspective on the concept of home. He credits them for the ideals they have instilled in him and his personal passion for building homes for families.

As such, what Brownie brings to the worksite is a boundless spectrum of trade understanding. He knows your project because he has spent his whole life in preparation for it. One could say that homebuilding is in Brownie’s blood, although Brownie prefers to think it resides in the beautiful homes enjoyed by his clients.
